This facade proposal project, developed in Sille, Konya, aims to produce a contemporary interpretation by referencing the region's unique stone texture, its settlement in harmony with the topography, and its traditional architectural language. By analyzing the existing building character, the facade proportions, the balance between voids and solids, and the use of materials have been re-evaluated; creating a harmonious yet distinctive expression that is in harmony with the street silhouette in which the building is located.
In this project, Sille's characteristic cut-stone surfaces, wooden window frames, and simple massing concept have been preserved, and the natural effect of the material has been emphasized instead of unnecessary ornamentation. The facade design adopts an approach that both respects the existing texture and responds to current functional needs. Accordingly, the window arrangements, the emphasis on the entrance, and the relationships between the masses have been re-imagined to enhance the building's perception.
The proposal was evaluated not only on the scale of a single building, but also within the context of the street in which it is located; its relationship with neighboring buildings, elevation differences, and perspective effects were taken into consideration in its design. Thus, the project presents a facade language that integrates with the historical fabric of Sille but does not imitate it; that connects with the place but does not lose its contemporary relevance.
