Located in the Güdül district of Ankara, this historical mosque is not only a place of worship but also a memory space that carries the cultural continuity of the settlement in which it is situated. The prepared project takes a holistic approach to the processes of surveying, restitution, and restoration, starting with the documentation of the building's current state. The aim is to reveal the building's original architectural character and to reinterpret elements that have been lost or damaged over time, based on scientific data.
The fundamental principle in intervention decisions is not to destroy the historical layers of the structure, but to make them legible. Accordingly, material choices, detail solutions, and construction techniques have been developed to be compatible with the original architectural language. Analyses carried out on stone, wood, and plaster surfaces have ensured that the restoration is not only a visual improvement but also a structural improvement process.
The project aims not only to physically preserve the mosque but also to transform it into a functional and livable space once again. In this context, user experience, accessibility, and environmental context have also been considered as important components of the design. By strengthening the relationship it establishes between the past and the present, the structure is transformed into a focal point that generates new meaning for its surroundings.
