The Ottoman-era dovecotes, commonly found around Kayseri, are not only a part of rural architecture but also a significant component of the region's agricultural production culture. Built primarily to utilize the yield-enhancing effects of pigeon manure in vineyards and agricultural areas, these structures showcase unique examples of rock-carving techniques and stonework. Integrated with the natural topography, this architectural language combines functionality with simple aesthetics, directly reflecting the region's production-oriented lifestyle. In this context, our team has prepared survey and restoration projects for these dovecotes; the aim is to document their current condition, preserve their original character, and pass them on to future generations. These studies offer a holistic approach to the sustainable preservation of rural architectural heritage.
