The Great Mosque of Malatya, one of the most unique and layered structures of the Seljuk period in Anatolia, is not only a place of worship but also a powerful architectural heritage reflecting the spatial design, material knowledge, and aesthetic understanding of its era. The survey, restitution, and restoration projects we are undertaking are based on the precise documentation of the building's current state and the accurate interpretation of its historical layers.

During the survey process, all structural and surface components of the building were analyzed and documented with high precision; original materials, textures, and deterioration typologies were revealed in detail. In the restitution phase, a holistic evaluation was carried out using archival data, similar structures from the same period, and traces in order to reinterpret the original architectural design from the Seljuk period.

The fundamental principle in the restoration approach is to minimize intervention while preserving the historical identity of the structure and highlighting its originality. The project, developed in line with this principle, aims to both ensure the physical continuity of the building and to accurately and powerfully convey the characteristic spatial language of Seljuk architecture to the present day.
